Bats, beetles, slugs, snakes, and spiders are just some of the creepy crawly critters who call Horton Grove Nature Preserve home. Come join us for a special Halloween program as we learn about these underappreciated animals. We’ll walk along the creek side trail, roll some logs to look for frogs and salamanders, search for spider webs, and even look at some of the places bats bed down for the day. Finally, we’ll finish up with some “edible dirt” treats and spooky Halloween games.
Costumes are encouraged. Please wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothes for walking. Bug spray is recommended.
Did you know there are more species of salamanders in NC than in any other state? Join TLC at the Chapel Hill Library as we learn about these fascinating creatures. We’ll read salamander stories, learn tricks for finding and protecting salamanders in our own neighborhoods, and make salamander slime to take home.
This program is perfect for families with children ages 4+. Please register on the Chapel Hill Library website.
Explore one of seven WakeWonders on this early morning birding excursion at TLC’s Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve. Please bring water, binoculars if you have them, and dress according to the weather. There are no bathrooms available at Swift Creek Bluffs.
This outing is free, but space is limited. Please register below to save your spot on the hike:
