Thirty-three years ago (our Founder’s Day is February 17, 1983) TLC officially became a recognized organization, and we’ve been hard at work conserving land ever since. For that, we deserve a trophy! Come celebrate with us at Trophy Brewing & Taproom on Maywood Avenue in Raleigh on February 19, the week of our founding! Join us for a brewery tour at 5:30pm and learn from the brew masters how the entire brewing process begins with clean water. Then, experience for yourself what beer brewed with water from a TLC protected watershed tastes like with one free tasting of Trophy beers brewed on the premises. Additional drinks available for purchase, light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Space is limited so reserve your free spot now!
Did you know there are more species of salamanders in NC than in any other state? Join TLC at the Chapel Hill Library as we learn about these fascinating creatures. We’ll read salamander stories, learn tricks for finding and protecting salamanders in our own neighborhoods, and make salamander slime to take home.
This program is perfect for families with children ages 4+. Please register on the Chapel Hill Library website.
This event is now full. A few spots are still reserved for Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor pairs, who may register separately. Please contact email@example.com or 919-908-0054 to register as a mentor pair. Otherwise please join us at future Get Wild! events.
Join TLC and Learning Outside at Irvin Nature Preserve for an evening of family fun celebrating the fall season. We’ll paint pumpkins, use the colorful fall leaves to create sun catchers, try some nature games, and end the night roasting marshmallows over the campfire.
All ages welcome. Please dress for the weather and bring a chair/blanket to sit around the campfire.
Celebrate the shortest days of the year by learning how Piedmont critters adapt to these long and cold nights. We’ll discover signs of winter on a short nature walk, make paper lanterns to light up the night, and roast s’mores around the campfire while the sun starts to set.
This program is open to families with children ages 4 and up. S’mores supplies are provided. We’ll have tarps to sit on, but feel free to bring your own blankets and chairs. Remember to dress for the weather and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit dirty.
Want the chance to use your new lantern? Ours will meet specifications for the Solstice Celebration Lantern Walk, hosted by the Hillsborough Arts Council on December 18th at 5:30pm. Take your handmade lantern and join in celebrating the longest night of the year. For more information about the Walk, visit http://www.hillsboroughartscouncil.org/lantern-walk.
