Star Party at Williamson Farm and Nature Preserve @ Bailey and Sarah Williamson Farm and Nature Preserve

Join us at Williamson Farm and Nature Preserve to take part in the annual NC Science Festival Star Party with TLC! Did you know that you can walk the entire solar system at our Preserve? Dart around Mars and the Moon while dodging asteroids by taking just a short scaled solar system walk on one of our trails. You can also complete hands-on activities that range from arts and crafts to having fun with moon phase oreos. We’ll end the night with guided star gazing after exploring the wonders at Williamson.

We will be outside the entire time, so dress for the weather, bring a blanket or lawn chairs to sit in, and be sure to bring your excitement! We can’t wait to see you!

When registering, please only register once for each family unit, each individual does not need to be registered.

Founded in 2010, the North Carolina Science Festival is the first statewide science festival in the United States. Through a series of community-based events each April (hosted by schools, colleges, libraries, museums, parks, businesses, and other local organizations), the Festival celebrates the economic, educational, and cultural impacts of science in North Carolina. It is an initiative of Morehead Planetarium & Science Center at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For more information, please visit

Get Wild! Stream Crawlers @ Horton Grove Nature Preserve
Jun 20 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come on out to our Horton Grove Nature Preserve and explore our waterways! We will learn all about why it is important to conserve streams and creeks and what you can do to help! Then we will even perform our very own study of the ecosystem to see if we can find any indicator species that will show us how healthy the environment is. If you are a member of the Triangle Explorers program then you will also earn your Get Wild! badge and your Conservation badge!
In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks should be worn by those who are unvaccinated or when anyone cannot maintain social distancing with guests other than your family/pod. TLC  seeks to build a supportive, mask-friendly environment in all collaborations with staff and the public. We encourage others to be respectful of personal choice about mask wearing.
This is a free event but pre-registration is required. Make sure to wear shoes and clothes that you can both hike a little bit in and get wet in a creek! We will see you out there, but don’t forget your water bottle and sunscreen!
