Do you think of a fire in the forest as a wild, uncontrollable force? Interestingly, humans have intentionally used “wildland fire” as a tool for many thousands of years. Join us for TLC’s first remote guest lecture series via Zoom meeting on Wednesday, March 18 from 6:30-8:00pm! Laurel Kays is an Extension Assistant with NC State University Extension Forestry, where she specializes in wildland fire. Laurel works with landowners, professionals, and other partners across the Southeast to improve wildland fire management and increase the use of safe and effective prescribed fire. Her presentation “Fire in North Carolina: A Human and Natural History” will focus on North Carolina and how our fire history and human history are fundamentally linked.
