Join Jae Furman on Wednesdays in May for a chance to forge a deeper connection with Triangle Land Conservancy’s newest nature preserve through the practice of “forest bathing.” Walk silently in an attempt to connect with your surroundings, perhaps hearing more songbirds, observing more wildlife, opening to more personal reflection. After 20-30 minutes of walking,  sit by a beautiful, peaceful pond for a sitting meditation or mindful conversation before a 10-minute walk back to the trailhead. Total walking distance will be about 2-3 miles, depending on the group’s preference. There are a few benches, picnic tables and a small dock alongside the pond. Feel free to bring a snack, water bottle, journal or sketching pad.

Walking in mist or drizzle can be enjoyable if dressed properly but rain or chance of thunderstorms cancel the walk.

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air, that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.
