Saturday, October 29
12:00 pm – Ben Adams and Wyatt Dickson will host Elliott Moss, author of “Buxton Hall BBQ’s Book of Smoke,” for a vegetable-focused lunch in the pasture featuring southern sides and wine pairings.
2:00 pm – Choice of one of the following sessions
- Preparing the pigs for the trenches with Wyatt Dickson, BBQ friends, Fullsteam and Ponysaurus
- History of BBQ with Southern Living’s BBQ Expert, Robert Moss, alongside a cocktail tasting from his new “Southern Spirits”
6:00 pm – Saturday night festivities offer a progressive dinner beginning with an oyster roast by the pond with Saltbox Seafood and Locals Seafood, followed by Arrogant Swine, B’S Cracklin’, Lewis Barbecue and more in the tent and concluding with live music and s’mores in the barn.
Sunday, October 30
12:00 to 4:00 pm – The apex of the weekend commences on Sunday with BBQ Church, a symposium welcoming all North Carolina pitmasters to lend their voice to the discussion about NC wood-smoked, whole hog barbecue. This event will be moderated by national barbecue experts, Rien Fertel, author of The One True Barbecue, and Robert Moss, and a Lifetime BBQ achievement award will be presented. Immediately following is the Picnic – a time for BBQ fellowship featuring a pig pickin’ prepared collectively by North Carolina barbecue pitmasters. Guests are invited to bring the whole family and a picnic blanket and enjoy the pig alongside dishes from local chefs, a beer garden with Ponysaurus and Fullsteam, wine garden with Wine Authorities, and live blue grass from 12:30 – 4 pm (alcohol is sold separately, and kids under 10 eat free).
