President’s Message
Triangle Land Conservancy’s president Kevin Brice has submitted his resignation effective April 30. The board has launched a national search for a new leader.
“After seventeen years, beginning as a volunteer and moving up the ranks to TLC president, I have decided to step away, rejuvenate, and devote considerable time to developing some conservation concepts,” said Kevin Brice.
Kevin’s many achievements helped TLC further its mission to protect important open space—stream corridors, forests, wildlife habitat, farmland and natural areas—to help keep the Triangle region of North Carolina a healthy and vibrant place to live and work.
During his tenure, Kevin helped TLC to:
- Position the organization on the leading edge of community conservation, where TLC put its land to conservation uses that improved our lives.
- Add $55 million worth of acres of conservation land to the organization’s protected land portfolio;
- Lead the successful $5.5 million Our Water, Our Land Campaign, to protect important land and streams in the Triangle; and
- Conserve TLC’s most expensive acquisition ever, the 613-acre Brumley Forest in Orange County.
“Kevin’s passion for conservation and his deep dedication to Triangle Land Conservancy will be greatly missed,” said Anne Stoddard, principal at The Stoddard Group, on behalf of Triangle Land Conservancy’s board. “I have enjoyed working with Kevin over the years. We wish him the best in his future pursuits.”
Triangle Land Conservancy Launches Search for New Leader
Larry Tombaugh, incoming board chair and former dean of NC State College of Natural Sciences added, “ TLC is in a unique position as the leading regional conservation organization in the Triangle. The job of leading this organization is a big one, demanding the ability to envision the future of conservation in the Triangle, as well as bring collaboration across many different public and private agency partners and individuals. We are looking forward to tapping the most experienced and capable conservation leadership talent in the country to help lead the organization.”
