Why Ride?

This is the Triangle Land Conservancy’s 5th annual Ride for the Land event. This year’s theme tour takes participants on a scenic ride through northern Johnston County, North Carolina. Come enjoy this beautiful area at 8 am on July 17, 2010!

Why Ride? Ride for the Ride...

Nobody knows the backroads of the Triangle like TLC. We put that knowledge to use in creating interesting, well-marked routes that you are sure to enjoy. Each of our Ride for the Land routes introduces cyclists to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in our region.

Why Ride? Ride for the Support...

Ride for the Land is a fully supported tour. Our friendly, efficient volunteers greet you at check-in and speed your trip to the start line. Volunteer mechanics from local shops are on-hand at the beginning, at the end, and in-between to help with any issues that come up. Our SAG vehicles cruise the routes until every last rider comes in. Our rest stops every 15 miles (or so) are supported by more of those friendly volunteers and fully stocked with drinks and snacks. We've learned a lot from our first four rides by listening to the comments of our participants, and we've improved our support every year (check out the comments on the RFL 2009, RFL 2008, RFL 2007 and RFL 2006 pages).

Why Ride? Ride for the Fun...

Our participation has grown every year, from 90 riders in 2006 to a 300+ rider sell-out in 2009. This year we've increased our limit to 400 riders. At the start line, at the rest stops, and at the finish our friendly volunteers - yes, them again! - and low-key atmosphere make Ride for the Land a big cycling party!

Why Ride? Ride for the Land...

Because in the end, we know that by introducing you—cyclists who are passionate about beautiful places to ride their bikes—to the beautiful places that Triangle Land Conservancy is working to protect, you can't help but support our work and spread the word to your friends.
