Ride for the Land 2008: Little River Roll

Nearly 200 cyclists joined Triangle Land Conservancy on July 19, 2008, for its 3rd annual bike tour, Ride for the Land: Little River Roll. The tour brought attention to Triangle Land Conservancy's Little River Priority Area and raised awareness of our efforts to preserve this critical piece of our natural heritage.

Ride for the Land 2008 was a training ride for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s annual Bike MS: New Bern Ride. Triangle Land Conservancy is pleased with the success of this event and hopes to continue the tradition of offering this fun and challenging event for cycling enthusiasts.

“Many thanks to TLC and your volunteers for a terrific ride on Saturday!!  The route was scenic, challenging and extremely well marked, the sag stops friendly and supportive and the burritos a perfect way to end the morning.  I'm looking forward to riding again in 2009.” - Rob W.

“I just wanted to let you know that your ride was very well managed.  I really enjoyed myself.  More specifically I think your directions and signage set the standard for how to manage a ride well.  And the food, especially the burritos, were great.  Thanks for putting on a great ride.” - John L.

“I'm a long term supporter of TLC and also an avid cyclist.  The ride Saturday was great - very well organized, very scenic, a bit hilly but that was OK.  I enjoyed all your signage and info about the Little River watershed.  Thanks to TLC for all the effort.” - Len P.

“I just wanted to say thank YOU!  We really had a great ride (despite the killer hills!) and enjoyed the route a lot...as always. You are doing a great job accommodating (and anticipating) the needs of the cyclists--the roads were very clearly marked--never a question of where to go.  And even on the busier roads it still felt safe. And also --thanks for sharing the work of the TLC and educating us on how much you do and how it affects our daily life.  I especially enjoyed the signs  re: the reservoir and how important that land is to all of us...especially as a water source.  I learned a lot! I really like riding a different route each year--and have so far ridden on many roads I have never ridden on...and we have covered the roads around here. So keep up the great work!  I think it will be an even bigger ride next year.” - Elizabeth T.

“Flatten out some of those hills :)  My wife and I had a great time, thank you!” - John K.

“Just a short one to thank all y'all for the wonderful rides and support on Saturday!  The routes were terrific and I really appreciated the light sprinkle that you organized with an apparently higher power that benefitted the 45 and 60 milers!” -- Juliann T.

"Great job by TLC and the volunteers on organizing the ride, food, selecting and excellent route marking! All went very smooth, definitely one of the better run events we have biked for a while! Nice work. We look forward to next years ride!” - Margit B.

“Great job! I know TLC has worked hard to continue to make this event a success, and I'm glad to see the increase in riders this year. Everything seemed to be well organized. Kudos to a job well done!” - Rob G., 2008 volunteer

“Great ride again this year!!!!” - Johnny C.

“Thanks so much for a great event on Saturday. It was well organized and very informative. Thanks to all those who organized and volunteered for the event.” - Steve W.
