| TLC conserves three more Deep River tracts
Working with the NC Division of Parks and Recreation and tapping funding from three state conservation trust funds, Triangle Land Conservancy recently completed three conservation purchases in the “Forks of the River” area of the Deep River to augment the White Pines Nature Preserve and the Deep River State Trail. The three purchases conserve a total of 286 acres, including 238 acres on the Lee County side of the Deep River and 48 acres on the Chatham side. Read more. |
| TLC awarded more than $5 million from Clean Water fund
Six Triangle Land Conservancy projects were awarded a total of $5.38 million by the NC Clean Water Management Trust Fund Board on August 11. The six conservation projects are spread around four Triangle region counties, with one each in Chatham and Durham and two each in Orange and Wake. In all, the six TLC projects will conserve a total of 1,100 acres with a total appraised valued of approximately $21 million. Read more. |

Fundraising Campaign
Triangle Land Conservancy kicked off its 25th anniversary on February 29, 2008 with a gala event at the Barn at Fearrington Village in Chatham County. More than 300 supporters snatched up tickets to recognize the contributions of the organization to the Triangle region’s quality of life. Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) also used the occasion to announce a $5.5 million fundraising campaign: Our Water, Our Land. Read more. |
| TLC and Bryan Properties Conserve 299 more Acres in Northern Durham
County
Triangle Land Conservancy’s conservation relationship with Treyburn developer Bryan Properties in northern Durham County continues to bear fruit. In late December 2007, three deals were completed to conserve an additional 299 acres. One of the deals will add 92 acres to the Stagville State Historic Site. Developer D.R. Bryan and his partners have now helped TLC to conserve 1,361 acres in the area. Read more. |
| Local Partnership Protects Swift Creek Property in Cary
TLC’s partnership with local governments could result in an exciting addition to TLC’s 23-acre Swift Creek Bluffs Preserve in Cary. In 2007, the City of Raleigh, Wake County and the Town of Cary approached TLC about joining forces with them to purchase 38 acres that could be used to develop a greenway connection on Swift Creek between Holly Springs Road and Lake Wheeler. | TLC Tops 10,000 Acres with White Pines Acquisitions
Three conservation projects encompassing 125 acres along the Rocky River will protect water quality and wildlife habitat at White Pines, the most significant natural area in the Triangle region. Combined with several other new conservation projects across the six-county Triangle region these deals helped push Triangle Land Conservancy’s protected land total to more than 10,000 acres.
