| Description |
The conservation easement provides about 1.1 miles of
stream buffer on Collins Creek, allows grazing and mowing of about 30 acres of pasture,
and ensures the protection of about 120 acres of forest. Dr. Edward Kuenzler, a professor
of ecology at UNC-Chapel Hill, conducted a baseline inventory that found at least 90 bird
species, 100 woody plant species and 200 herbaceous plant species on the property. The
Natural Resource and Soil Conservation Service has a 15-acre wetland restoration project
on the property. |
