River Society

Triangle Land Conservancy's River Society is comprised of our distinguished leaders who contribute $1,000 or more for annual membership.

In its inaugural year (1999-2000), 58 members joined the River Society, providing a great boost to help TLC save the most important open spaces in our region. Our River Society membership for 2009-10 stands at 314 members.

Jennifer and Kevin Trapani of Chapel Hill are our River Society Chairs for 2009-10. Kevin is the President and CEO of the Redwoods Group, an insurance provider. Jennifer is Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer at the Redwoods Group.

River Society giving levels are all named for trees native within TLC's five conservation Priority Areas: Tulip Poplar, Red Cedar, Winged Elm, Bald Cypress and White Pine. Giving Level Details.

In addition to the satisfaction of providing significant support for our region's preeminent conservation group, River Society members are invited to our annual River Society Soiree. They also receive the other benefits of TLC membership — The Confluence (our quarterly newsletter) and invitations to outings, special events and property celebrations.

The 2009 River Society Soiree, TLC's annual thank-you dinner for River Society members, took place Thursday, October 29 at Burt's Bees Headquarters on the American Tobacco Campus in Durham.
