Tara & Andrew Allden

Though new TLC members Tara and Andrew Allden have called Chatham County home since 2004, Tara is a daytime neighbor to the TLC staff
in Raleigh’s Pilot Mill building, where she is Operations Coordinator for Restoration Systems, Inc.
Tara originally started her professional life on a different course, with an undergraduate degree in advertising from University of Florida.
After a stint working on agricultural publications at NC State University, Tara went on to earn a Masters in Ecology from State, and later
a law degree from the University of South Carolina. After completing her law degree, she worked as the Southeast Regional Manager of the
Environmental Banc & Exchange until joining Restoration Systems in 2006. Tara currently serves on the Chatham County Environmental Review Board.
With over 20 years of coaching experience, Andrew currently serves as Meet Director and Track Alumni Relations Coordinator at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Beyond coaching Division I collegiate athletes, Andrew has coached elite athletes at the USA Championships, the World Championships, and the
Olympics. Andrew was a member of the track team as an undergraduate at Emory University, where he received degrees in English and History.
He went on to earn a Masters in Sports Management from University of Georgia. Before coming to UNC, Andrew coached at University of Georgia,
Tulane University, University of South Carolina, and Coastal Carolina University. Andrew currently serves on the Chatham County Recreation
Advisory Board.
Tara and Andrew first met in 1991 at the Junior Olympics, where she was a volunteer and he was a coaching. They met again years later at the
Raleigh Relays and married in 1998. Both Tara and Andrew are avid runners, and also enjoy reading, biking, and eating locally grown foods.
They are sharing their love of the outdoors with 7-year old daughter Kathleen, who Tara recalls went on her first canoe trip at around 18 months.
Members of TLC since 2007, Tara and Andrew were drawn to TLC because of a common land ethic and because TLC is protecting land right here in
the Triangle.
“We chose to live where we live because of the open space, because of local farms,” says Tara. “We support TLC because we realize the need for
land preservation in this area.”
