Aveda Earth Month 2010

For the fourth straight year, Aveda has named Triangle Land Conservancy its local fundraising partner during Earth Month 2010 in April with proceeds benefitting TLC and its efforts to safeguard clean water in the Triangle.

Events will be updated throughout the month, so please check back frequently for new listings!  And since many stores across North Carolina will be participating in Earth Month, contact an Aveda store near you for details on how you can get involved.

EARTH JAM 2010
The Scott J Salon Artistic Team from New York City, together with the Aveda Institute Chapel Hill Student/Educator Team, will sponsor a Fashion Night Benefit Tuesday, April 13, from 6:30-10 p.m. at the Institute, located at 200 West Franklin St. in Chapel Hill.  Students will be representing the styles of Horst Rechelbacher, Vidal Sassoon, Trevor Sorbie, Antoinette Beenders, Vivienne Mackinder and Annie Humphries.

Ticket Information:
General Admission: $35 in advance ($50 at the door)
VIP seating (limited availability): $70 in advance ($100 at the door)

TIPS FOR A CAUSE
Tip donations, in lieu of tips for services, will be accepted in any amount with 100% of those donations benefitting Triangle Land Conservancy.

JEANS FOR GREEN
For a $5 donation, students and staff at the Aveda Institute can wear jeans Fridays and Saturdays during April and May to raise money for Triangle Land Conservancy. 

ART FOR THE CAUSE AND SILENT AUCTION
Student artwork as well as paintings and photographs from local artists will be featured during the Earth Jam 2010 fashion show April 13 as part of the silent auction.  Artwork not sold during the event will remain for sale through May.  The fashion show will also feature a silent auction with items from local restaurants and shops.

CUTATHONS
For a $30 donation guests can receive a dry haircut and style with proceeds to benefit Triangle Land Conservancy.  Scheduled dates and times are:

• Wednesday, April 7 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Thursday, April 15 from 3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

• Friday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to –7 p.m.

• Wednesday, April 21 from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.

GIFT CERTIFICATES
Gift Certificates to Carmen! Carmen! Prestige Salon and Spa, The Streets at Southpoint will be available throughout April with proceeds to benefit Triangle Land Conservancy.  Guests can select from two available gift certificate options:

SILENT AUCTION AND MASSAGES
The store will also feature a silent auction with a variety of items available for bidding and will also offer $1-a-minute chair massages.

• The store will also feature a silent auction throughout the month with a variety of items available for bidding from local restaurants, shops and artists.

CUTATHON AND HAIR SHOW
To coincide with the store’s grand opening, Carmen! Carmen! will offer a number of services during a cutathon scheduled Saturday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• For a $40 donation guests can receive a haircut, updo, blow out or color – services valued between $40 and $200 depending on the stylist – with proceeds to benefit Triangle Land Conservancy.

• Enjoy the “Sublime” hair show at 3 p.m., also in the lower level courtyard outside Hudson Belk.

• Guests can also receive stress-relieving treatments and brow tutorials, both in the store and at the lower level courtyard outside Hudson Belk.
