New Board Members Elected in July 2009
With overwhelming approval, TLC members have
cast their ballots in favor of adding two new members to the Board of
Directors. Sig Hutchinson (Wake) and Joan Siefert Rose (Orange) replace William Brian, Jr. and Sonya McKay whose terms expired in July.
In addition, Adam Abram (Orange), Charlie Bolton (Chatham) and Laura Virkler (Orange) were elected to serve second terms.
Role of the Board of Directors
TLC is governed by a 18-member Board of Directors which sets policy directions and budget priorities for the organization. Board members are nominated by a nominating committee and elected by the general membership. They serve three-year terms and cannot serve more than two
consecutive terms.
TLC's Board Officers include a chair, vice chair, president, treasurer and secretary. The Board Officers are selected from among the Board of Directors.
The chair presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive
Committee. The Vice Chair acts in place of the Chair as needed. The president is the chief executive officer of the organization,
responsible for the management of TLC. The Treasurer controls the funds of the organization, ensures that the books are kept properly and prepares financial reports. The Secretary is responsible for recording the minutes of the Board meetings and Annual Meeting. Officers serve one-year terms.
