These environmental engineers are the largest rodent in North America \, but they aren’t just any old rat. \nLearn all about beavers and nature ’s other engineers to solve this case! To complete Operation Earth Day\, y ou will have to visit each of our stations that have fun activities to gai n clues to find the solution! If you find all the clues and solve the myst ery\, you will be entered to win our Top Investigator prize including outd oor gear and a $25 gift card donated by Great Outdoor Provision Company! \nThis is a free event but pre-registration is required. These env ironmental engineers are the largest rodent in North America\, but they ar en’t just any old rat.

To complete Operation Earth Day\, you will hav e to visit each of our stations that have fun activities to gain clues to find the solution! If you find all the clues and solve the mystery\, you w ill be entered to win our Top Investigator prize including outdoor gear an d a $25 gift card donated by Great Outdoor Provision Company! \nThis is a free event but pre-registration is required. There are a few arrival ti mes available to try and distribute crowds. This preserve contains species not typically found in the North C arolina Piedmont\, but still remain here from the last ice age due to the rivers surrounding the area creating a microclimate. You can also keep an eye out for white-tailed deer\, beavers\, gray foxes\, and muskrats.
\nThe pace of this hike will be just under 1.5 mph. Wear comfortable walk ing shoes and bring a full water bottle! This is a free event\, but prereg istration is required.

Learn all about Nature at Night from community org anizations and explore the night sky with fun astronomy activities. What are t he Leave No Trace Spotlights?
\nThe new Spotlight program fro m LNT is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation\, to spread education\, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for th e future. Thanks to a community support grant from Airbnb\, the Spotlights program is the newest education offering from Leave No Trace. We are so e xcited that TLC’s Williamson Nature Preserve has been selected to be one o f its host sites. The goal of the program is to address the challenges out door areas are facing by tapping into the communities that are rising to m eet those challenges.

\nCome join us for an early morning hike at ou r White Pines Nature Preserve!
\nOn this moderate\, 3.5 mile hike le ad by our trail guide\, Pam\, you will see five varieties of pine trees. T his preserve contains species not typically found in the North Carolina Pi edmont\, but still remain here from the last ice age due to the rivers sur rounding the area creating a microclimate. Throughout the hike\, you can a lso keep an eye out for white-tailed deer\, beavers\, gray foxes\, and mus krats. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a full water bottle! This is a free event\, but preregistration is required.
\nThe pace of th is hike will be just under 1.5 mph. Please note that there is decent topog raphical change at this preserve that may be difficult for some visitors. We will take many stops along the way\, and past participants have found i t nice to have hiking poles\, but they are not necessary if you do not hav e a pair.

\nCome explore the cosmos with us at TLC’s Three Bea rs Nature Preserve in Creedmoor!
\nThis year we are combining our Operation Earth Day Carnival with the NC Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party! Learn all about the Sun a nd the Moon from community organizations and explore the night sky with fu n astronomy activities. Start your journey from the parking lot by walking through a scaled version of our very own solar system and then take a pit stop at each of our activity tables to learn all about the stars\, the mo on\, and some of the telescopes that we will be using to view the night sk y.
\nWhen the sun has set\, we will take an optional night hike or s tory time and end the night with guided demonstrations from Raleigh Astronomy Club to share constellation st ories and opportunities to look through real telescopes! This is a free ev ent but pre-registration is required.

\nThis site is equipped with restrooms wit h accessible stalls. The main parking area is about a 0.15 mile walk from the main event area\, however\, there will be closer parking available for those who need it. This is a completely outdoor event and we suggest you bring chairs and blankets\, extra layers to keep warm\, and a few snacks a nd a water bottle. We can’t wait to see you among the stars at our Three B ears Nature Preserve!
