Have you ever wanted to han g a clothesline? Set up a hammock? Tighten down your tent tarp? Secure a b ear bag? If so\, join TLC for an introduction to knot tying while enjoying a short hike at Brumley Nature Preserve. Participants will be introduced to five foundational knots that are useful for camping and backpacking. Th is will be a hands-on\, experimental\, collaborative excursion – a hike wi th occasional stops for knot exploration. TLC volunteer trail guide Lisa C roucher\, herself a knot-tying novice\, will introduce five knots and will demonstrate their practical application in an outdoor setting. Participan ts will receive a list of recommended resources for continuing their learn ing and practice independently.

\n< p>We will meet at the Turkey Farm entrance to Johnston Mill and hike to th e plot sites of tagged trees. There we will be joined by members of the Hu rlbert Lab at UNC who will take us through every step of the project inclu ding being shown the methods of capturing accurate counts of arthropods on the branches of tagged trees. You do not need to bring anything\, other t han good walking shoes and a full water bottle.
