These trainings will cover basic information about TLC\, the exp ectations of each role\, trail etiquette and protection\, common programs\ , and what to do in case of emergency. You must sign up for all of the zo om trainings and at least 3 of the 4 in person trail trainings to pass. \nCo me out to Horton Grove Nature preserve on Saturday November 12th to learn all about medicinal plants and how they transform over the Fall. You will learn about a variety of plants native to North Carolina and their histori cal medicinal uses. With the seasons changing\, kids will also learn about how and why plants change to create the beautiful array of Autumn color. This hike will be about 1.5-2 miles long with many stops along the way.
\nPlease remember to wear good walking shoes\, and bring a full water bottle and some snacks for the trail. This is a free event\, but preregist ration is required.

Come explore the cosmos with us at TLC’s Three B ears Nature Preserve in Creedmoor!
\nThis year we are combining our Operation Earth Day Carnival wi th the NC Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party! Learn all about Nature at Night from community organizations and explore the night sky with fun a stronomy activities. Start your journey from the parking lot by walking th rough a scaled version of our very own solar system and then take a pit st op at each of our activity tables to learn all about the stars\, animals a t night\, and some of the telescopes that we will be using to view the nig ht sky. There will even be some out of this world food for purchase provid ed by Dang Good Dogs!
\nW hen the sun has set\, we will take an optional night hike and end the nigh t with guided demonstrations from Rale igh Astronomy Club to share constellation stories and opportunities to look through real telescopes! This is a free event but pre-registration is require d.

\nThis site is equipped with restrooms with a ccessible stalls. The main parking area is about a 0.15 mile walk from the main event area\, however\, there will be closer parking available for th ose who need it. This is a completely outdoor event and we suggest you bri ng chairs and blankets\, extra layers to keep warm\, and a few snacks and a water bottle. We can’t wait to see you among the stars at our Three Bear s Nature Preserve! We’ll be hiking Bluestem’s 2 miles of trails\, through lovely fields\, forests\, streams\, and by a pond. These trails are accessible to the public 365 da ys a year.
\nBluestem is also a conservation cemetery with 50 acres set aside for natural burial. “Natural burial at Bluestem is simple\, natu ral and personal. It occurs without embalming\, without metal or steel cas kets\, and without concrete vaults.”

Come explore this lovely land with us. The trails are flat\, thou gh some may be muddy after a rain. Kids are welcome and while Bluestem doe s love dogs\, this is an event only for their owners. This is a free event \, but preregistration is required.

Come explore the cosmos with us at TLC’s Three Bears Nature Preserve in Creedmoor!
\nThis year we are combining our Operat ion Earth Day Carnival with the NC Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party ! Learn all about the Sun and the Moon from community organizations and ex plore the night sky with fun astronomy activities. Start your journey from the parking lot by walking through a scaled version of our very own solar system and then take a pit stop at each of our activity tables to learn a ll about the stars\, the moon\, and some of the telescopes that we will be using to view the night sky.
\nWhen the sun has set\, we will take an optional night hike or story time and end the night with guided demonst rations from Raleigh Astronomy Club to share constellation stories and opportunities to look through real te lescopes! This is a free event but pre-registration is required.

\nThis site is e quipped with restrooms with accessible stalls. The main parking area is ab out a 0.15 mile walk from the main event area\, however\, there will be cl oser parking available for those who need it. This is a completely outdoor event and we suggest you bring chairs and blankets\, extra layers to keep warm\, and a few snacks and a water bottle. We can’t wait to see you amon g the stars at our Three Bears Nature Preserve! \nWe are excited to be able to offer it again\, and thankful to Great Outdoor Provision Co. and LEKI for worki ng with us to borrow poles for you to test! This has become a popular hike so make sure to save your spot now!
\nUsing trekking poles can enha nce your stability\, provide support on all types of terrain and water cro ssings\, and can strengthen your core and upper body. During this hike you ’ll join TLC Trail Guide\, Nancy\, to learn how and when to set the length of your poles\, the most efficient way to grip your poles\, and how to de cide what features you want in your hiking poles. This training hike will be helpful whether you are new to hiking poles or a regular.
\nThis will be a moderate 2-3 mile hike over variable terrain\, stopping periodic ally for educational moments. Another big thank you to Great Outdoor Provision Company and LEKI for letting us borrow poles for you to try\, but if you hav e a pair already\, please bring them! This is a free event\, but preregistrati on is required.
